In March 2018 my lovely (now husband) Nick had just proposed, I was so excited to start planning our wedding. I had always dreamed of a September wedding, I saw it as the perfect month to get married, long and warm days, but with the first signs of autumn on the way.
But Nick and I couldn't bear the idea of waiting till the following year, so rather than giving ourselves the usual 18 months to plan, we gave ourselves the challenge of putting our whole wedding together in just six months…I know, we’re crazy right?!
I had looked into hiring a wedding planner to help me prioritise and book all the aspects of our wedding, especially as we were on a strict timeline. But our overall wedding budget was small, and we just couldn't afford it… Who knew wedding planners were so expensive!
Well we got to it, booked our venue, suppliers and everything else, and pulled off our six-month challenge. We also planned our whole wedding for just £7,000. We had the most wonderful day, and the planning was well worth it, albeit a bit of stress (and a few new grey hairs). We got married in September 2018, and were so excited to start our new chapter as Husband and Wife.
After we got married, I started my career as a Virtual Assistant, helping others with their businesses. But I had really caught the wedding bug after planning our own wedding and realised that I could combine my love for weddings with everything I know about being a Virtual Assistant.
